A perfect introduction to quilting basics, whilst focussing on utilising all textile waste generated in your own sewing and craft practice.
If you are anything like me you have a bag ( or let’s be honest BAGS) of little bits of fabric, snips of threads, bits of wool and every and any scrappy bit in between. You don’t know what on earth to do with them but cannot let go of the feeling that there must be something better than chucking it in the bin?
If this is the case then this workshop is for you!
You shall leave the workshop with a pair of mug mats, and I am sure a huge number of ideas to build on your zero waste collection.
What will we cover?
I will cover the basics of piecing fabric together, layering and applique as techniques to create a quilt top. From there we will look at how to use all the scraps we have just generated, together with those collected from previous projects to create our own wadding. Machine and hand quilting techniques to attach all the layers will be our next stop and we will finally complete our projects with mitred binding.
Who is this suitable for?
